ATV/Quads

ATV stands for All Terrain Vehicle. 4 wheel ATV’s are sometimes referred to as quads. An All terrain vehicle also may consist of 6 wheels or more. Most people do not consider 2 wheel off road motorcycles or dirt bikes as ATV’s. You can get an ATV or "Quad" in different configurations such as; 4 wheel drive, 2 wheel drive and some that would be considered a utility ATV.  The majority of the quads sold are built for ATV racing or off road riding.
 
ATV or quad bikes are manufactured by a variety of companies including, Polaris, Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, Kawasaki, KTM and Can Am. There are other ATV manufacturers including some low quality Chinese products. Every major city has a number of all terrain vehicle dealers to choose from.
 
Qaud riding on ATV trails or dirt roads (off road riding) is legal in many state and national parks. It is usually necessary to acquire an all terrain vehicle permit or license to ride in these areas. Many private ATV parks or race tracks, charge admittance fees upon entry. ATV dealers sell permits for many state parks and recreational areas.   ATV riding is generally relegated to “2 track” and not meant for single track motorcycle trails.
 
Many ATV riding is popular with hunters and fisherman, farmers, ranchers, contractors as well as sport enthusiasts. ATV riding and ATV racing has reached an all time high and is increasing in popularity every year. All terrain vehicles represent the fastest growing segment in the off-road recreational industry.
