Keywords: snowboarding, snowboards, boarding, half-pipes, jibs, jibbing, jibbers Snowboarding is a fun, fast-paced sport where the snowboarder travels downhill on a snowboard.  Snowboards require unique boots that attache to the snowboards via bindings.   Snowboarders or just boarders, use the same slopes as skiiers however there are special areas just for snowboarders at many ski resorts called terrain parks.  Terrain parks inlcude jumps, half-pipes, quarter-pipes, boxes, jibs (often a metal rail that the boarder slides along) and other obsitcles.

Snowboard racing, often referred to as freecarving or freecarve racing, is a race that involves carving turns at a fast pace on groomed or hard-pack runs.  The snowboard is generally stiffer and one-directional for this high-paced sport.  The boots used by freecarvers is generally harder and stiffer to provide them greater control.

Freestyle events are oftern held at various terraing parks and involve "jibbers" performing various ariel stunts and tricks.  Jibbing is generally done on shorter, more flexable snowboards.
